The Naughty Volvo S60 plays it safe while still being naughty…..
Volvo’s sportiest performer ever also introduces yet more advanced safety technology. This all-new sedan, with its world-first Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake feature, can literally stop in its tracks to avoid hitting someone who’s stepped in front of the car.
Safety advances in the 2011 Volvo S60 should come as no surprise from the brand that invented the three-point seatbelt and pioneered many of the safety features now used in all cars. With the 2011 S60, Volvo will once again raise the bar for vehicle safety technology. A new type of Advanced Stability Control can identify a skidding tendency sooner to improve handling and rapid avoidance maneuvers. Corner Traction Control is a new feature that uses “torque vectoring” (moving the power from side to side) for smoother cornering.
Then there is Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake, a world-first technology that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and warn the driver if anyone walks out into the vehicle’s path. If the driver fails to respond in time, the system can automatically activate the S60's full braking power.
The 3.0-liter turbocharged engine in the 2011 S60 T6 model is the most powerful six-cylinder engine currently offered by Volvo. It also happens to equal the power of the 4.2-liter V8 in the Jaguar XF standard model, while surpassing it in torque. The power reaches the wheels through Volvo's second-generation six-speed automatic Geartronic transmission. A sport-tuned chassis delivers an exhilarating driving experience, yet pampers occupants with a refined and quiet ride.
